The design and selection of educational furniture play a crucial role in creating effective learning environments. One of the key standards that governs the dimensions and ergonomics of classroom furniture is the British Standard EN 1729. This standard provides guidelines for the sizing of tables and chairs used in educational settings, ensuring that they are appropriate for the age and physical stature of students.
Each size mark corresponds to a specific seat height and approximate child height range. The size mark on the chairs is then paired with the size mark on the tables to ensure they are the right size for each year group.
Size mark 3 chairs pair with size mark 3 tables
Size mark 4 chairs pair with size mark 4 tables
Size mark 5 chairs pair with size mark 5 tables
Size mark 6 chairs pair with size mark 6 tables
Note: Both size mark 4 and 5 can be used for year 6. We would recommend size mark 6 for those with taller children

Desk
Our handmade desk is the only thing we have that resembles a traditional classroom desk. These desks however have a natural rustic feel and can be used by children as a learning desk, computer desk or additional classroom table. Our desks are made to complement the educational size marks and can be made to fit children from 6 years to adults.
Please note: These tables are not designed to be used as isolation/ detention or time out tables which are not aligned with our therapeutic school approach.

Our desks are handmade with FSC certified wood and are made bespoke to your order. We also used reclaimed, recycled timber boards where possible. Reclaimed wood will have rustic characteristics such as marks, bows, twists and dents here and there, this is part of the rustic charm and does not diminish the furniture’s quality or standard. All tables are finished with a protective hard lacquer to ensure durability, however, please note that tables will slightly dent as with any wood.
This table is handmade, FSC certified and built to order. FSC wood is responsibly sourced to ensure that biological diversity is protected and that forest management benefits local people. FSC wood helps sustain economic viability.
FSC-certified forests must meet rigorous standards that support the environment, society and economy.
