Sustainability Statement
Last updated: 03.09.2025
At Therapeutic Classrooms, we believe classrooms should support not only children’s mental health and wellbeing, but also the health of our planet. Sustainability is central to our ethos, and we are committed to continuously improving our practices.
Our Commitments
- Eco Packaging: Wherever possible our furniture is delivered in branded, recyclable, vegan, and plastic-free packaging. We also opt for stickers and labels that use eco-friendly gums and sustainable materials where we can.
- Repair over Replace: Wherever possible, we will repair items (especially handmade wooden furniture) rather than replace them, to extend their life and reduce waste.
- Responsible Sourcing: We prioritise FSC-certified wood, sustainable fabrics, and suppliers who share our values. If suppliers cannot meet these standards, we actively seek alternatives that are more aligned with our ethos.
- Eco Printing: When we print materials that add value to your experience (such as makeover day boxes with instructions and floor plans), we use eco paper, sustainable inks, and eco envelopes wherever possible.
- Low-Toxic Environments: We recommend the use of eco cleaning products to support both children’s respiratory health and the longevity of furniture.
- Transparency & Progress: Not all our items are fully eco (for example, our LED lights contain plastic.) We recognise that in today’s world, avoiding plastics completely is a difficult task however we use sustainable materials wherever possible, make choices that matter where we can and are actively exploring sustainable alternatives as we grow.
- Challenging the Status Quo: We regularly ask our partners how we can be more sustainable, eco-friendly, and vegan. We challenge industry norms around packaging and materials to push for higher standards across education and supply chains.
Our Ongoing Journey
We are pioneering therapeutic furniture in education, and we recognise that innovation is a journey. We are committed to:
- Reducing waste.
- Choosing responsible materials.
- Partnering only with suppliers who align with our values.
- Improving continuously as new eco solutions emerge.
By embedding sustainability into every decision, we ensure that our classrooms are inclusive and nurturing for children today and responsible for the generations to come.
