Size Mark Information
Size Mark Information
The design and selection of educational furniture play a crucial role in creating effective learning environments. One of the key standards that governs the dimensions and ergonomics of classroom furniture is the British Standard EN 1729. This standard provides guidelines for the sizing of tables and chairs used in educational settings, ensuring that they are appropriate for the age and physical stature of students.
Each size mark corresponds to a specific seat height and approximate child height range. The size mark on the chairs is then paired with the size mark on the tables to ensure they are the right size for each year group.
Size mark 3 chairs pair with size mark 3 tables
Size mark 4 chairs pair with size mark 4 tables
Size mark 5 chairs pair with size mark 5 tables
Size mark 6 chairs pair with size mark 6 tables
Note: Both size mark 4 and 5 can be used for year 6. We would recommend size mark 6 for those with taller children

Do you want to learn more about our approach? Introduce the approach to your staff or wider network? Or book Shahana to talk at an upcoming conference?
We offer two sessions which can be tweaked to fit your needs.
- Therapeutic Classrooms
These session begin by focusing on the changes we are seeing in education including children's behaviour and increasing needs. We then look at what isn't working in classrooms today, why and what we can do about it! This session asks you to question the norms and expectations of a classroom and encourages you to think differently about what the offer could be.
- Therapeutic Schools
These sessions focus on the whole school offer and unpicks many of the cultural norms that are no longer working. We begin by exploring the changes we are seeing in education including children's behaviour and increasing needs. We then look at why things feel so challenging and explore the impact it is having on children's SEMH and ability to flourish at school. We then introduce the 5 core areas of focus in our therapeutic school approach and unpick what isn't working and what we can do instead. Within the session we look at behaviour management approaches, classroom environments, play and lunch times. This session asks you to think outside the box, question the norm and look at how we can truly meet children's needs by making real impactful changes.
Both sessions are full of advice and ideas to implement straight away.
Inset sessions:
These are in person visits, around 2-3 hours that can be split into two parts.
Part one is the underpinning knowledge and training section of the session. We will start by exploring the changes we are seeing in children and education and the challenges we face. We will then look at why and how this is impacting children's development and behaviour. Next we will explore what isn't working in classrooms and how there is a gap between their needs and our norms and expectations. The session will then focus on what you can do to make small, easy low cost changes that reflect the children's needs.
Part two is optional and includes a site walk where we look at different environments in your school and apply the theory to real life. This is an opportunity to ask questions, make real time tweaks and changes and get some practical tips.
Conference sessions:
Available both online or in person. Our conference sessions can be adapted to meet your needs and can run for 45mins - 3 hours. Just pop us an email to let us know more about your event and to discuss options.
Booking and Costs
