One of the key standards that governs the dimensions and ergonomics of classroom furniture is the British Standard EN 1729. This standard provides guidelines for the sizing of tables and chairs used in educational settings, ensuring that they are appropriate for the age and physical stature of students.
Each size mark corresponds to a specific seat height and approximate child height range. The size mark on the chairs is then paired with the size mark on the tables to ensure they are the right size for each year group.
Size mark 3 chairs pair with size mark 3 tables
Size mark 4 chairs pair with size mark 4 tables
Size mark 5 chairs pair with size mark 5 tables
Size mark 6 chairs pair with size mark 6 tables
Note: Both size mark 4 and 5 can be used for year 6. We would recommend size mark 6 for those with taller children

Large High Table
The Large High Table is one of our favourites and will comfortably seat 6 children. This table is often a firm favourite of those children who struggle on conventional classroom tables and offers a sense of independence and maturity, paired with 'the comfy high chair' for the perfect finish!
Our high tables offer flexible seating in the classroom, allowing children to choose seating that meets their emotional and learning needs, whilst also being physically comfortable. Children can easily fit their legs under these tables and won’t feel “squashed” together like in conventional classrooms. Our high tables also free up floor space. No matter how small your room is, you’ll be surprised by how much space you can claim back by using them!
Every table is designed to help children feel comfortable and engaged whilst learning and can be used as free-standing desks or paired with comfortable highchairs. Children love sitting at the high tables in our classrooms and have told us it improves their concentration and enjoyment of learning!

This table is BS EN 1729 Part 1 and 2 compliant. The standard for part one ensures the chairs meet the functional dimensions required for education. Part two ensures durability for heavy school use. The standards ensure furniture supports posture, reduces the risk of back pain and prevents repetitive strain injury. It also ensures the furniture is safe, strong and durable. Please see the size marks below ensure you buy the right size for your children.

Our tables are all handmade with FSC certified wood and are made bespoke to your order. We also used reclaimed, recycled timber boards where possible. Reclaimed wood will have rustic characteristics such as marks, bows, twists and dents here and there, this is part of the rustic charm and does not diminish the furniture’s quality or standard. All tables are finished with a protective hard lacquer to ensure durability, however, please note that tables will slightly dent as with any wood.
This table is handmade, FSC certified and built to order. FSC wood is responsibly sourced to ensure that biological diversity is protected and that forest management benefits local people. FSC wood helps sustain economic viability.
