The design and selection of educational furniture play a crucial role in creating effective learning environments. One of the key standards that governs the dimensions and ergonomics of classroom furniture is the British Standard EN 1729. This standard provides guidelines for the sizing of tables and chairs used in educational settings, ensuring that they are appropriate for the age and physical stature of students.
Each size mark corresponds to a specific seat height and approximate child height range. The size mark on the chairs is then paired with the size mark on the tables to ensure they are the right size for each year group.
Size mark 3 chairs pair with size mark 3 tables
Size mark 4 chairs pair with size mark 4 tables
Size mark 5 chairs pair with size mark 5 tables
Size mark 6 chairs pair with size mark 6 tables
Note: Both size mark 4 and 5 can be used for year 6. We would recommend size mark 6 for those with taller children

Low Rectangle Table
The Low Rectangle Table offers flexible seating options and an alternate learning zone, whilst also creating a calm, cosy, safe environment. This play table is low enough for children to sit on the floor and play, brilliant for intervention rooms, nurture rooms and at the back of large classrooms!
Classrooms should allow for flexible seating so that many children can benefit from sitting (or lying) on the floor. It allows them to concentrate, ground and self-regulate.
Top Tips: Pair these with some floor cushions and blankets to ensure children are comfortable. We love to put tuff trays on our square tables full of sensory materials,

1. High-Pressure Laminate (HPL) woodgrain effect, offering a durable, wipeable, long-wearing surface for heavy-duty areas, which makes them perfect for classrooms

2. Natural pine wooden table finished with wood stain offer a warm, natural, rustic charm to the classroom.
Wood will have rustic characteristics such as marks, bows, twists and dents here and there, this is part of the rustic charm and does not diminish the furniture’s quality or standard. All tables are finished with a protective hard lacquer to ensure durability, however, please note that tables will slightly dent as with any wood.
Our tables are all made with FSC-certified wood and are made bespoke to your order.
