One of the key standards that governs the dimensions and ergonomics of classroom furniture is the British Standard EN 1729. This standard provides guidelines for the sizing of tables and chairs used in educational settings, ensuring that they are appropriate for the age and physical stature of students.
Each size mark corresponds to a specific seat height and approximate child height range. The size mark on the chairs is then paired with the size mark on the tables to ensure they are the right size for each year group.
Size mark 3 chairs pair with size mark 3 tables
Size mark 4 chairs pair with size mark 4 tables
Size mark 5 chairs pair with size mark 5 tables
Size mark 6 chairs pair with size mark 6 tables
Note: Both size mark 4 and 5 can be used for year 6. We would recommend size mark 6 for those with taller children

Our handmade rustic shelves are a great addition to any classroom or space. These shelves offer some additional storage as well as contribute to creating a homely, safe, nurturing space. Much better use of a wall than a display board!
Top Tips: Put these up above a high table or teacher desk to create a ‘zone’ or put them on empty walls to make the room feel homely and welcoming.

Our shelves are handmade with FSC certified wood and are made bespoke to your order. We also used reclaimed, recycled timber boards where possible. Reclaimed wood will have rustic characteristics such as marks, bows, twists and dents here and there, this is part of the rustic charm and does not diminish the furniture’s quality or standard. All wood is finished with a protective hard lacquer to ensure durability, however, please note that tables will slightly dent as with any wood.
These shelves are handmade, FSC certified and built to order. FSC wood is responsibly sourced to ensure that biological diversity is protected and that forest management benefits local people. FSC wood helps sustain economic viability.
