The Therapeutic Classroom Chair

Our chairs have been specifically designed with children’s wellbeing and mental health in mind, and they are underpinned by our therapeutic, trauma informed, attachment aware and inclusive approach. They are comfortable, durable and wipeable and have been informed by children and teachers.

Children tell us they are comfortable and schools tell us that because of our chairs, they are seeing less dysregulation, little to no swinging, improved concentration and happier children! When they're paired with our furniture, schools also see a decrease in school-avoidance and an increase in communication skills, eye contact, engagement and outcomes!

Our chairs are BS EN 1729 Part 1 and 2 compliant. The standard for part one ensures the chairs meet the functional dimensions required for education. Part two ensures durability for heavy school use. The standards ensure furniture supports posture, reduces the risk of back pain and prevents repetitive strain injury. It also ensures the furniture is safe, strong and durable.

Please see the size mark information to choose the correct size for your classroom and to ensure you pair them with the right size table. Note: Both size mark 4 and 5 can be used for year 6. We would recommend size mark 6 for those with taller children.

Our chairs are made using FSC certified wood and vegan leather.

The wood used in our chairs is FSC certified. FSC wood is responsibly sourced to ensure that biological diversity is protected and that forest management benefits local people. FSC wood helps sustain economic viability.

FSC-certified forests must meet rigorous standards that support the environment, society and economy.

The upholstery is made from vegan leather, a smooth, non-porous surface that resists spills and stains and wipes clean easily with a soft, damp cloth. As with all materials, prompt cleaning of any mark (for example, strong paint or pen) will help keep your chair looking its best. Please note that too much water, aggressive scrubbing, strong paint or dyes, or leaving marks to set may affect the finish over time.

Colour and finish may vary slightly due to the handmade nature of this product.

Care:

• Wipe spills promptly with a soft, damp cloth
• Avoid harsh chemicals, alcohol-based sprays, or bleach wipes, they can damage any coated fabric.

Weekly care

• Gently dust seams and wipe surfaces with soft dry cloth
  
• Check that chair legs and frames remain stable on uneven floors.

Long-term protection

• Keep chairs away from direct heat sources and strong sunlight where possible.
• Avoid sharp objects, pens, or zips rubbing repeatedly against the surface.
• For high-use classrooms, rotate chairs occasionally to even out wear.
